The title of this new album by Italian jazz vocalist Joe Barbieri translates as ?Based On A True Story? and is a superb collection of songs as beautiful as they are personal by one of the most charismatic voices of our time. 8232; Four years after ?Origami? and two since ?Dear Billie? (his tribute album to Ms. Holiday), Naples-based Barbieri now returns to writing and singing his own songs for what is his most autobiographical work to date. The result is a bold album on which each track vibrates with true passion and honesty, and a diverse and vastly beautiful collection reminiscent of the likes of Antonio Carlos Jobim and Shirley Horn. It also features a host of international talent among its contributors, including Fabrizio Bosso (trumpet), Chris Ott (trombone), string ensemble Onda Nueve and vocalists Sergio Cammariere and Tosca. Jobim?s favourite cellist Jacques Morelenbaum appears on the fantastic ?Niente Di Grave?. The release of the album is preceded by the upbeat single ?Promemoria?.
